The summit

Monte Botte Donato is one of Sila's symbolic peaks. The hike crosses larch pine forests to elevations where the landscape opens over Sila lakes and the Calabrian Apennines.

Flora and fauna

Larch pines, beech woods and mountain species cover the slopes. Roe deer, wild boar, birds of prey and forest birds inhabit the protected National Park area.

Hiking

Routes of varying difficulty start from plateau localities. Layered clothing, water and a map: conditions at the summit change quickly, even in summer.
